Timber Pest Management
Course Summary

The Timber Pest Management Course is suitable for students who want to undertake an accredited course in both inspecting and treating timber pests. It incorporates modules CPPUPM3008 and CPPUMP3010 and is accredited nationwide. On completion students will gain a Statement of Attainment and be eligible to apply for a timber pest management license with the applicable authority within their state or territory.

Students are required to complete online assessments consisting of multiple choice and written assessments tasks. The learning material is provided via e-learning booklets which students can access whilst completing their assessments. 

Additionally, students are also required undertake a work placement component supervised by a licensed timber pest management technician. The work placement involves completion of 10 timber pest treatments and 10 timber pest inspections with supportive photographic and video evidence for each job. Students are responsible to organise their own work placement supervision. This must be organised prior to enrolment in the course.

Do you need advanced computer skills?

Is this course 100% online?

No unfortunately. The performance criteria set for this course requires a supervised practical component. This means, along with the online assessments, you will be required to undertake a number of timber pest jobs with a licensed Timber Pest Management Technician and complete a work placement booklet together with accompanying photographic and video evidence.

How long will the course take?

The course generally takes students 6 to 8 weeks to complete if you commit to allocating 10 to 12 hours per week. This should be divided between completing the online modules and undertaking the work placement component. It is advised to start the work placement as soon as possible to avoid delays in completing your course.

What to expect:

  • How is this course delivered?
    The course is delivered in two distinct components:
    1. Online learning modules delivered on-line using our internet based Learning Management System (LMS). Course content is recieved via e-learning booklets. There are no set course times or live tutorials. 
    2. Practical component whereby students must complete 10 timber pest treatments and 10 timber pest inspections with a licensed general pest technician. Students are required to complete a log book at each job as well as take a combination of photographic and video evidence for submission on the LMS. Students are required to organise their own work placement supervisor (i.e. licensed timber pest technician).
  • How long is the course?
    The online component takes approximately 60 hours to complete and the practical component takes approximately 60 hours to complete. The overall course validity period is 6 months.
  • What do I get on completion?
    You will receive a Statement of Attainment.
