Course Overview

The Pre-Purchase Residential Building Inspector course is specifically designed for builders and building industry professionals who would like to use their knowledge and experience in the building inspection field as a pre-purchase building inspector. The course covers the skills required to conduct a thorough pre-purchase inspection and formulate the findings into a professional report. 

Students will learn pre-engagement procedures, common terminology used, inspection procedures and techniques and how to best communicate the findings in a professional report. The course is also built around the framework for undertaking pre-purchase building inspections in Australia, specifically AS4349.1. As it is an Australian Standard, anyone undertaking pre-purchase residential building inspections in Australia must do so in accordance with this Standard.

Course Cost

There are two payment options for this course package:
  • OPTION 1 - $1,195 paid on enrolment
  • OPTION 2 - $695 paid on enrolment and then four (4) payments of $150/wk

Pre-Purchase Residential Building Inspector Course

  • Qualifications: Certificate of Completion - Pre-Purchase Residential Building Inspector
  • Pre-requisites: Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Building and Construction 
  • Learning Hours: Approximately 40 hours
  • Course Delivery: Students must complete the required learning modules delivered via our web-based based learning management system.
  • Practical Component: 
    Students must complete two (2) unsupervised pre-purchase residential building inspections and reports using AIT's inspection app. The inspections can be of the students residence and a a family members or friends property. The properties inspected should be atleast 5 years old.
